چکیده

In lighting design and architectural illumination planning simulations of luminance and illuminance distributions within scenes are performed using rendering tools such as RADIANCE. In this paper we focus on the evaluation by two action spectra other than the luminous efficiency function – the circadian action function describing the melatonin suppression and the photosynthesis action function. We show how indices that are derived from these action spectra can be calculated from spectrally rendered images of a real-world scene. Planelet Transform: A New Geometrical Wavelet for Compression of Kinect-like Depth Images

With the advent of cheap indoor RGB-D sensors, proper representation of piecewise planar depth images is crucial toward an effective compression method. Although there exist geometrical wavelets for optimal representation of piecewise constant and piecewise linear images (i.e. wedgelets and platelets), an adaptation to piecewise linear fractional functions which correspond to depth variation ov...

Online multiple people tracking-by-detection in crowded scenes

Multiple people detection and tracking is a challenging task in real-world crowded scenes. In this paper, we have presented an online multiple people tracking-by-detection approach with a single camera. We have detected objects with deformable part models and a visual background extractor. In the tracking phase we have used a combination of support vector machine (SVM) person-specific classifie...

Plant Classification in Images of Natural Scenes Using Segmentations Fusion

This paper presents a novel approach to automatic classifying and identifying of tree leaves using image segmentation fusion. With the development of mobile devices and remote access, automatic plant identification in images taken in natural scenes has received much attention. Image segmentation plays a key role in most plant identification methods, especially in complex background images. Wher...

Can people identify original and manipulated photos of real-world scenes?

Advances in digital technology mean that the creation of visually compelling photographic fakes is growing at an incredible speed. The prevalence of manipulated photos in our everyday lives invites an important, yet largely unanswered, question: Can people detect photo forgeries? Previous research using simple computer-generated stimuli suggests people are poor at detecting geometrical inconsis...

The perceived contrast of texture patches embedded in natural images

The visibility of an isolated simple stimulus is known to depend on its contrast. However, when such a stimulus is surrounded by other geometrically-simple stimuli, its perceived contrast can change markedly. Here, we examined whether such effects contribute to our perception of contrasts when we view real world scenes. We show that the perceived contrast of a luminance texture patch is suppres...
